Creative Expressions Therapy is excited to welcome our new intern: A. Schultz. A. Schultz was born in Seattle and grew up in Edmonds, Washington. With a background in visual art, they pivoted to studying art therapy, inspired by their own positive experiences with mental health counseling and in response to the collective stress of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout their graduate studies at Antioch University, they have focused on developing an integrated approach to counseling that draws from existentialist counseling, Buddhist and liberation psychology, and client-centered, trauma-informed approaches to therapy, among other theoretical frameworks. They seek to provide counseling that centers and affirms marginalized identities, like the experiences of LGBTQAI+ communities, but are eager to provide services to all who need it. They live in Seattle with their partner, three cats and their kitchen table printmaking practice.
